Katrina Kaif's belly dancing moves in Sheila Ki Jawani has invited comparisons with international pop star Shakira and the actress is taking it as a compliment.

"I think it is a huge compliment to be compared with her. I gave my best into that dance number. But that is not all there is to me in movie," said Katrina.

The 26-year-old actress, who stars opposite Akshay Kumar in 'Tees Maar Khan', says that there is more to her than just the item number.

"I play an aspiring actress, a naive kind of girl. She lands her in tricky situations and Akshay is continuously saving her from them.

I found the character interesting," said Katrina, who was in the city today to promote the Farah Khan-directed film releasing on December 24.

Although this is the first time Katrina has worked in Farah's film, she earlier danced to the tunes of the choreographer-turned-director for the song 'Just Chill' in 'Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya'.

"I was very apprehensive at that time. Matching the steps as directed by a choreographer of Farah's repute, I had goosebumps you might say. But this time I was more at ease."

Talking about her experience of working on 'TMK' with her, Katrina said, "She conceptualises very well and she is brilliant in this kind of comedy. She is clear about what she wants from me and never wastes a minute," adding she liked both her earlier films -'Main Hoon Naa' and 'Om Shanti Om'.

TMK is the seventh film Katrina has done with Akshay and referring to her most frequent co-star she said, "Our on screen chemistry was good in 'Welcome', 'Namastey London' and 'Singh Is Kinng', and this time audiences will see it get even better."

TMK is an action comedy about a fearless, shameless conman who is assigned the job of smuggling antiques worth Rs 30 crores from a heavily guarded moving train.

The actor's daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth got married to Ashwin, and keeping the new son-in-law entertained alongwith the baby grandson, Linga (Aishwarya Rajinikanth and Dhanush's son) seems like a nice way to celebrate his birthday.

Pune blast casts a shadow on Indo-Pak talks

Security officials were investigating the possible involvement of Pakistan-based militants in a bomb blast in Pune that killed nine people, but New Delhi said talks with Islamabad later this month would go ahead.

The bomb, left in a backpack at the popular German Bakery on Saturday, wounded 60 and appeared to target Indian and foreign tourists.

Senior internal security sources, who declined to be named, said the focus had fallen on Pakistan-based separatist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), which has been blamed for the Mumbai attacks, and a local militant group called Indian Mujahideen (IM) because both had been behind bombings in India in the past.

"As of now our line of investigation is towards the possible involvement of LeT ... a sleeper module of the Indian Mujahideen could also be involved," a senior interior security official overseeing the investigation told Reuters.

Both groups are fighting against Indian rule in Kashmir, the disputed Himalayan region.

"Nothing is ruled out, nothing is ruled in. The investigation is in progress," Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram said.

On Friday, India and Pakistan agreed to high-level talks in New Delhi on Feb. 25, suspended after Pakistani militants killed 166 people during a three-day rampage through the financial capital of Mumbai in November 2008.

Any sign of Pakistani involvement in the Pune attack would worsen relations between the two nuclear rivals and further destabilise a region overshadowed by war in Afghanistan.

The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party said India must "seriously reconsider" going ahead with the talks, but a government official said the talks were on track.

"The talks are going to go on schedule. We realise there are complexities in engaging Pakistan, but we have to see things in their entirety. And at this moment, there is no reason for the talks to not go on," the official said.

Malayalam film industry controlled by some: Thilakan

Malayalam thespian Thilakan, who is angry with the two film organisations and a superstar for denying him an opportunity to act in the new film "Christian Brothers", alleges that the film industry is under the control of a few.

"The Malayalam industry is now controlled by a mafia which consists of a superstar and a few from the two film bodies (FEFKA and AMMA). Many for fear of being sidelined are silent. I am not going to be silent, I will fight against this gross injustice. You wait and see," said Thilakan who is in the industry for five decades.

Speaking to IANS, the veteran actor said that both FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala) and AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes) and a particular superstar are against him. He did not name the superstar.

"They are trying to take vengeance against me because I acted in a film directed by Vinayan, who was against all these groups. But I am not going to take this lightly. I will take the fight into the enemy camp," said 74-year-old Thilakan, who was honoured with a Padma Shri last year.

Talking about director Joshy's film "Christian Brothers", he told TV channels: "Producer Subair came and paid me the advance and took 25 days from me in November last year. But later he called me and said 'they' are opposed to my acting in the film, because the superstar has said that it is a prestige issue for him," said Thilakan.

The Malayalam film industry currently has two reigning superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal.

Afridi banned for two T20s for ball-tampering

Shahid Afridi has been banned for two Twenty20 internationals after being found guilty of ball-tampering during Pakistan's two-wicket loss to Australia in the ODI at the WACA. Afridi, Pakistan's captain in Twenty20 cricket, was charged with an article 2.2.9 offence of the ICC Code of Conduct which relates to "changing the condition of the ball in breach of Law 42.3 of the Laws of Cricket".
Afridi, leading Pakistan in the absence of Mohammad Yousuf, was caught by TV cameras apparently biting the ball on a couple of occasions. This was reported to the on-field umpires by the TV umpire and, after a chat with Afridi, the umpires changed the ball.
Afridi was called into a hearing with the match referee Ranjan Madugalle immediately after the match. Madugalle said Afridi pleaded guilty to the charge, apologised and regretted his action.

The building is opening among hard economic times in Dubai just like the rest of the world, but it is estimated that 90% of the building's space is sold and there are hopes that the surrounding market of Dubai Tower will boost its economy.
The building stands at just over 2,625 feet. Developer Emaar Properties won't disclose the tower's final height ahead of the opening, although most estimates put it at 2,684 feet, far taller than Taiwan's Taipei 101, which had been the world's tallest skyscraper at 1,670 feet. Ashok Leyland iBus to cost Rs 60 lakh

Ashok Leyland has launched iBus, its low-floor concept bus at the Auto Expo 2008. Priced at Rs 60 lakh, the iBus is a 1.5-metre low-floor bus, also believed to be the widest vehicle in the country. The iBus employs GPS technology that enables vehicle tracking and displays route information on an LCD screen.

The iBus also provides passenger infotainment with user-friendly message and news. Other features of the iBus include an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic engine management, and an elegantly designed VIP enclosure, complete with Internet access.

Experts believe that the new low floor buses currently on display could provide commuters with a safer travel option, not just in New Delhi, but everywhere in the country.

The Delhi administration is planning to float tenders for buses to help it tide over the public transportation crisis. Ashok Leyland is expected to bid for the next tender for low-floor buses from the Delhi Transport Corporation. Leyland is also expected to bid for the second and third tender of the DTC for about 3,500 buses.

The Delhi Transport Corporation plans to bring in as many as an 8,000 buses to its fleet before the 2010 Commonwealth Games. This initiative is expected to cost Rs 4000 crore for the Corporation.

GM India has launched the Chevrolet Beat. The Beat will be available in three trim levels, the base version PS priced at Rs 3.34lakh, LS at Rs 3.54lakh and the top end version LT will retail at Rs 3.94lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The phone looks more like the iPhone than any other phone on the market. There is no physical keyboard like the Android-powered Motorola Droid, and the tradeoff is a much slimmer design. The phone is 11.5 mm deep, slightly thinner than the iPhone 3GS at 12.3 mm. It is also slightly lighter than the iPhone 130 grams v. 135 grams). The package comes with the phone, a removable battery, 4 GB Micro SD storage card (expandable to 32 GB), USB charger and microphone headset.

The Nexus one has four functional touch buttons at the bottom of the screen (back, menu, home, search) and a navigation trackball pointing device. It also has physical power and volume controls. But most of your interaction with the phone will be through the gorgeous 3.7 inch 480 x 800 OLED capacitive touchscreen. This is the best mobile phone display on the market today, blowing away the iPhone’s 480 x 320 display. The screen is bright and alive, and an absolute pleasure to use.

This phone is also powered by the Snapdragon 1 GHz core processor, which is more than able to handle the Nexus One’s 3D graphics, multiple applications running in the background and heavy browser use simultaneously. Unlike previous Android phones, there is no slowdown or lag when you push the phone’s performance, and less of a need to kill applications to keep the device humming.

On the downside: all this hardware bling is an energy hog. The screen will self adjust brightness and Google is smart about turning down the processor when it’s not being used. But I’ve found battery life to be woefully brief, even by iPhone standards. Officially the phone has up to 7 hours talk time, 250 hours standby, 5 hours of 3G Internet use, 7 hours of video playback and 20 hours of audio playback. Unofficially, I was able to kill the fully charged battery with 1.5 hours of continuous gameplay (Robo Defense) on the full-brightness screen. Be prepared to keep this phone near a charger at all times. You can easily view what’s using the battery, though (the screen is 71% of my current usage), and then adjust the hardware or software usage to maximize battery life.

Overall the Android is a superior mobile device, particularly when paired with Google Voice. Google is calling this the first of the Super Phones. And they may not be exaggerating all that much.

3 Idiots shouts at media

All Chetan Bhagat fans felt hurt when the renowned writer wasn't duly credited by Raj Kumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra for the blockbuster movie 3 Idiots. Chetan has finally broken his silence in the issue in his personal blog and hit out at the 3 Idiots team which claimed that the movie was 'loosely' based on the book Five Point Someone. Although people who have read the book found 3 Idiots as its screen adaptation, the director, producer and the stars have shied away from crediting Bhagat for the movie

In his blog Bhagat wrote “ The only reason it has surfaced after the movie’s release is because Five Point Someone has a few million readers, and when you copy a popular story claiming it as ‘original’ and ‘completely different’, people are going to find out” He added “The case is as simple as the makers claiming the story as their own, and clearly it is not. Pre-release, the makers made press statements like the movie is only ‘very loosely’, ‘2%-5% inspired by the book’. After release, those who have read the book and seen the movie find the film to be an adaptation of Five Point Someone. The setting, characters, plotline, dramatic twists and turns, one-liners, theme, message – almost all aspects that make up the story are from FPS”

An upset Bhagat added “ I, frankly, was shocked to see this. This is because I was also fed ‘this is an original movie’ line a lot. I wanted to see the final script – it was never shown to me. I wanted to see the film before release – it was not shown to me (even though trials had been done for people). What’s more, the makers had called me to their office and pressured me several times to withdraw my ‘Based on a novel by’ credit, which was by contract. They told me they’d replace it with something like ‘initiated by’ – a credit that doesn’t exist anywhere in the world. I still told them that if the film is indeed original, I’ll happily withdraw the credit, but somehow the promos don’t tell me so. I asked them to show me the film and they fell silent”

Chetan Bhagat vs 3 Idiots – Truth Lies on Story Credits ...

Iam sure if you are a Bollywood Fan or else a Twitter User you would come through the current issue which is going on between one of India’s Best Book Writer – Chetan Bhagat & the movie 3 idiots. The issue currently is that Chetan Bhagat claims that he has not been given credit for the story even though they have copied most of the stuff from his book – 5 Point Someone. While on the other hand the movie producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra is not ready to reply to any of this and pushes Aamir Khan between this. Iam sure these Actors don’t get any time to read books and still they reply to the press, and what Aamir said was kind of joke. He claims that since the movie has got hit – he does expect people looking for publicity[wtf].

I would recommend all my blog viewers to first view the following video by Star News which has posted a comparison of the movie to the small events in the book. It clearly shows that there are multiple situations and similar scenes which were written in the book. Since the movie team knew that they were copying the stuff and they didn’t want any legal trouble, they added the name of Chetan Bhagat at a place which is not normally visible to anyone and something which people would avoid to read. Even if i was in the place of Chetan Bhagat i would feel that this is seriously a bad issue and if Aamir Khan is a true actor he would have just kept himself away from this issue instead of talking crap without knowing everything on this situation.

Well since the Actors are Actors and they are meant to Act, something like Lawyers who by hook or crook just have a target to win the case, Aamir is also acting on the lines the movie producer has given him.

Lets assume that Chetan Bhagat is looking for publicity based on the lines of Aamir Khan, but after watching the above video if you were the writer of a book whose content has been filmed and if you accused wrongly, you would also do the same thing. This is because media would just support Aamir Khan or the movie team because of the hit and their status and would just ignore a writer who have rarely come to the main stream media.

Unless someone would First Read the Book, then watch the Movie and then search for the credits, they wont understand how bad it hurts when your hard work is not paid off. Till now i didn’t find any single place where Chetan Bhagat has asked for any Monetary Compensation but has expected a credit wherever possible which can give him a better name and fame and buzz all over. But when the other party accuses wrongly its real bad and everyone should raise a hand on this and support the right party in my case Chetan Bhagat.

Ducati India plans to sell 150 high end bikes in the year 2010

The Italy based bike manufacturing giant, Ducati has planned to exploit the Indian superbike market by selling 150 high end bikes costing up to Rs 45 lakh in the year 2010.

The company has also announced the opening of its first showroom in partnership with Precision Motor India Private Limited in Mumbai, which is thought to be the most opportune place for the growth and establishment of the Ducati brand.

At present Ducati’s has made its 15 models for the retail sale including, Hyper Motard, Monster, Street Fighter, Desmosedici RR, SBK and Sport Classic, which are powered by 696- 1,198cc engines and are priced between Rs 10 to 45 lakh.

While inaugurating a new showroom in Gurgaon, Ducati CEO (Asia Pacific), Mr. Mirko Bordiga said, “Before launching the brand in a big way, we wanted to be sure about having a right position, a right organisation and a right market, and now we are quite satisfied. We hope to sell around 100-150 units during 2010 in India."

At this, the chairman and CEO of Precision Motor India Private Limited, Mr. Ashish Chordia said that the Duacti brand perfectly suits the Precision Motor India as Ducati is believed to be striving for racing success, innovative technology and the highest quality standards and his company aims to get perfection in the all the brands, they are representing.

Moreover, the company sees more potential in the Indian superbike market than the China as Indian market has a sale of 1000 bikes per year, while its only 100 units in China as the government has banned the smaller engine bikes in China.

Volkswagen Polo Coming in 2010

Volkswagen AG plans to launch its Polo in the country in 2010. It will be offered in two versions : hatchback & sedan. The hatchback model will launch in the 2010’s first quarter and the sedan model will roll out in next half of 2010. The new Polo will be manufactured at Volkswagen’s Pune plant.
VW spokesperson said that the VW is planning to introduce the Beetle in the country by 2009-end. iPhone 4th Generation to Have 5MP Camera

Reports say that the same company responsible for the 3GS’ 3.2 megapixel camera, OmniVision Technologies, is working on a 5 megapixel lens for the next handset. Bollywood Actress Asin Thottumkal turns 24

Bollywood Actress Asin Thottumkal, who celebrates her 24th birthday today made her acting debut in Sathyan Anthikkad’s Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001 when she was just 15. Her first commercial success came with Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi in 2003, for which she won a Filmfare Award for the Best Telugu Actress.

After a number of films, she received her second South Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her performance in her second Tamil film, Ghajini in 2005. Her role was that of a vivacious young model named Kalpana. The following Diwali in 2005, Asin had two releases, Sivakasi and Majaa. Both the movies did fairly well at the Box Office.

The following year, her long-delayed venture, Varalaru opposite Ajith Kumar, became the biggest blockbuster of 2006 in Tamil cinema. The film’s hero-centric plot retreated Asin to the sidelines, but her role was well acclaimed by critics.In 2007, Asin had another hit with the movie Pokiri. Asin Thottumkal appeared in her first dual role in K. S. Ravikumar’s magnum opus Dasavathaaram opposite Kamal Haasan.

Despite being overshadowed by Haasan’s ten roles, Asin’s portrayal’s in the film were praised as her “best-to-date” with one of her roles being that of a Vaishnavite in the 12th century; whilst the other character was a Brahmin girl from Chidambaram. Dasavathaaram subsequently went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters in South Indian film history.

After establishing herself as the leading actress in South India, Asin Thottumkal opted to move into Bollywood, to get nationwide fame. Her first film, Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan was the remake of her breakthrough film of the same name. This year will see Asin acting opposite Salman Khan in the movie London Dreams, in which she plays a member of a rock band. The movie also stars Ajay Devgan. The movie will release this Friday and Asin is completely busy with the promotions of the movie London Dreams along with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan.

Bollywood Gossip : In the real life Katrina’s marital status may still be single, but a fake certificate prepared by some mischievious persons suggest that Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif is the legally married wife of local BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola.

The marriage certificate which has been approved by Indore Municipal Corporation claims that the 24-year-old actress married the local MLA on December 2, 2008 and got the same registered with the civic body on December 11, 2008. What do you say?

“The marriage certificate is totally fake and was not issued by the municipal body. It must be an act of some mischievous persons,” IMC marriage registrar Dr Natwar Sarda told reporters.

“It appears that somebody first scanned the IMC marriage certificate and then with the help of some software showed the Bollywood actress and MLA as husband and wife,” Sarda said.

The IMC has taken the issue seriously and will soon lodge a complaint with the police so that the persons who have done it can be booked for the crime.

Royal Enfield has a launched a mouthwatering classic version of its legendary motorcycle the Bullet. It is amazing to look at – a real vintage motorcycle look, if you ask me.The front number plate, the logo, that classic green colour and 1950s looks. The new Bullet Classic 500 really looks like a post World War II motorcycle. Bullet lovers would be drooling, I am sure.

So far there is no information on the expected price. We guess it would be close to Rs 1 lakh, but better to wait in case they throw us a surprise!

The new Bullet Classic 500 was unveiled by Royal Enfield at Intermot exhibition in Germany. What is really new in the new Bulelt Classic is a UCE (Unit Construction Engine). While in the classic Enfield Bulelt motorcycle engine, the clutch and gearbox are situated outside, they are both integrated into the crankcase in the Bullet Classic 500. Add to this, an electronic fuel injection from Keihin, Japan to comply with the Euro III emission norms and you have a winner.

Royal Enfield claims that the UCE construction gives the Bullet Classic less moving parts, les transmission loss and less maintenance issues.

What remains the same after all these years? Single cylinder pushroad engine, 1950s style nacelle and toolboxes, and the nostalgia. The standard Bulelt thump is a bit diluted for the last couple of years, yes, but thats a small price to pay.
The Bullet Classic 500 has the traditional tiger eye design alright, but has a halogen bulb for great illumination.

Aamir’s ‘3 Idiots’: Seems Like Intelligent Stuff

Whatever Aamir Khan does, generates a lot of speculative interest and media hype. Same is true for Rajkumar Hirani’s new venture “Three Idiots” that has Aamir assuming the central lead. The title was running around the media circles while during a post-production bash of Ghajini, Aamir referred himself, Shahrukh and Salman as the three idiots of the industry.

3 idiots will be softly based on Chetan Bhagat’s debut bestseller Five Point Someone which narrates the story of an average IIT guy who just about manages to rise above the very mediocre levels. The movie will have Madhavan and Sharman Joshi as the other two idiots.

To be raised through the banner of Vidhu Vinod Chopra productions, the female lead for the movie will be played by the ever so effervescent Kareena Kapoor. To add to the histrionic appeal of the movie, Boman will be playing Kareena’s father (this is tentative)

The first shot has already been shot and it features Madhavan. The scene is beautifully shot in a jetliner and has the director all enthused. Aamir plays Rancho and he along with her love interest Kareena are set to blaze the Ladakh Iceland with a whirlwind 20 day shoot imminently ahead.

As a neat departure form the trend, the shoot will be entirely done in India and has few of the top cosmopolitan junctions like Delhi and Bangalore and a pastoral recess like Ladakh towed in. Shantanu Moitra is the oarsman on the music front and Swanand Kirkire takes the mantle of lyricist for this Aamir venture.

Miss Gibraltar takes home Miss World 2009 crown

Johannesburg Gibraltar's Kaiane Aldorino won the 2009 Miss World crown at a glittering ceremony here on Saturday, defeating 111 contestants from across the world but Miss India Pooja Chopra disappointed by failing to make it to the final round.

An HR Clerk by profession, the 22-year old blonde brought her country the Miss World title for the first time.

"Thank you South Africa, this is the most wonderful moment of my life," said Aldorino with tears in her eyes.

Miss Mexico Perla Beltran finished second, while South Africa's Tatum Keshwar took the third place.

Former Miss World and Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra was one of the judges in the contest whose final round saw a close contest between seven beauty queens.

Aldorino was crowned by Kseniasukhi Nova, the Miss World 2008, of Russia.

Miss India Pooja Chopra, who participated in the contest, nursing an injured ankle, made it to the semi-final along with 15 other contestants but was eliminated in the penultimate round.

Chopra earlier won the 'beauty with a purpose' title for supporting the save the girl-child initiative back home.

Honda Two wheelers india launches the common man's sporty bike

With 9 bhp of power and a claimed mileage of 70kmpl, Honda’s new CB Twister promises to shake up the 100-125cc segment. The lion’s share of the 100cc market belongs to Hero Honda, and their bikes also boast of such credentials. The path Honda took with this motorcycle is entirely different to one adopted by its Indian partner.

The CB Twister looks everything but a Hero Honda Splendor or Passion. Many of us yesterday expected to see a plain and boring commuter with puny tires and no personality.

By making the move of introducing a lower capacity motorcycle, Honda expects to see a change in customer perception and expand this section of the market.

As the name denotes, the 110cc CB Twister is inspired by bigger the CB1000R. The core USP of this motorcycle is its style, but there are plenty of other reasons why customers would buy this product.

You get features which aren’t seen on this side of town. Tubeless tyres, maintenance free battery and viscous air filter improve performance and reduce maintenance cost. Other features like short muffler and half chain are attributes that define how stylish this motorcycle is.

Though the design of the Honda CB Twister has been penned at Honda’s Italian design studio with the CB1000R as inspiration, the motorcycle is manufactured for the demanding Indian customer. Primarily to address the need of the Indian youngster in both rural and urban areas, the motorcycle will also be exported to other countries in the future.

Honda isn’t planning to introduce fuel injection or more powerful engines on the CB Twister, though it expressed interest in bringing bikes of capacity 180-250 to India in the future. Honda is also studying the possibility of electric and hybrid two-wheelers for Indian market in Japan (as revealed by Japanese designers of this motorcycle) but they too are at quite a distance.

The CB Twister is available in five colors – Yellow, Green, Black, Red and Blue. The base model is priced at 42,000 rupees and will be available in showroom in India by the end of February 2010.
